Nudge Security
F Nudge Security
The Nudge Security API takes only a static bearer token, made in the UI, with no documented scopes, rotation API or partner leak revocation; it expires only after four weeks without use. Into your SaaS it connects through its own Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra and Slack apps, but the Okta connector wants a pasted Okta API token.

Inbound F
How a workload running anywhere authenticates to this product.
Static API token created by an administrator under Settings > API Tokens in the web UI and sent as "Authorization: Bearer <token>". No federation, OAuth client-credentials or short-lived token path is documented.

“Under Settings , navigate to API Tokens. Click Create API Token. Give the token a descriptive name and click Create .”

“Note: You will need to use the following syntax when using the API key in requests: Authorization: Bearer <token>”
- nudgesecurity.readme.io checked 2026-10-13
“"description": "Authorization header containing the Nudge API Token", "scheme": "bearer", "type": "http"”
The OpenAPI security scheme on the public API reference is a single bearer token; no other auth scheme is listed. The browser extension (Nudge's endpoint-deployed component) authenticates back to Nudge with a tenant-wide static "deployment key" pushed via MDM, which the backend exchanges for a per-browser-profile API key once a user is identified ("anyone with it can register devices to your tenant"). That is another long-lived shared secret in the inbound story, though it is not what a customer automates against.
Outbound B
How this product reaches into your cloud, repos, or other SaaS.
Admin install / consent of Nudge's own apps for Google Workspace (Marketplace app), Microsoft Entra ID / M365 (enterprise app admin consent) and Slack (app install); Jira, ServiceNow and GitHub connect by OAuth authorization. The Okta connector requires the customer to create an Okta API token and paste it, and the vendor says most connected apps need either an API key or an OAuth authorization.

“In Okta, API tokens inherit the permissions of the user who creates them, rather than allowing fully customized permissions. To generate a token with restricted access, we must ensure the creating user has only the minimum necessary permissions.”

Checked: Google Workspace (Marketplace app install, keyless), Microsoft Entra ID / M365 (admin consent to Nudge's gallery app, keyless), Slack (app install, keyless), Jira and ServiceNow (OAuth authorization, keyless), GitHub (marketing page lists "OAuth" as the integration method; no public setup article, so whether it is Nudge's own GitHub/OAuth app is not verified), Okta (pasted Okta API token, static; Nudge documents a least-privilege custom-role recipe, and the Okta marketing page lists "API, OAuth", but only the token path is documented publicly). Nudge has no AWS, GCP or Azure subscription connectors; its cloud-ish connected apps (Oracle Cloud, Linode, Snowflake and 100+ others) have marketing pages only, and the vendor says most need an API key or OAuth authorization, so other static-key connectors are likely. Setup docs for the 100+ connected apps live inside the product and were not publicly verifiable.
Hygiene for any static credential the product still issues
| ✗ Expiry enforceable | Inactivity expiry kills abandoned tokens, which is better than nothing, but a token in active use never expires and no expiry date or org policy can be set. Fails the check as written.
|
| ✗ Rotation via API | Tokens are created and revoked in the UI only. The public API reference index (apps, accounts, OAuth grants, events, users, groups, fields, labels, findings, playbooks, TPRM, AI, browser extension) has no endpoint for creating or revoking API tokens.
|
| ✗ Scoped keys | Token creation takes only a name; no scopes, read-only option or service-account principal is documented. Only Administrators can create tokens, and the API includes write and destructive actions (labels, fields, offboarding playbook), so a token appears to carry broad tenant access.
|
| ✗ Last-used visible | No public doc mentions a last-used timestamp for API tokens. The 4-week inactivity expiry implies Nudge tracks usage internally, but it is not shown as a receipt. Graded conservatively; a screenshot or doc of a last-used column would flip this.
|
| ✗ Leak revocation | Nudge Security does not appear anywhere in GitHub's supported secret-scanning patterns, partner or user.

Notes
Graded the Nudge Security platform API (the only public API). Public docs are the Intercom help center and a readme.io API reference; per-connector setup instructions for most of the 100+ connected apps sit inside the product and could not be verified, so the outbound list above is what is public. Discovery itself rides on Google Workspace / Microsoft 365 email and OAuth data via Nudge's own apps, which is keyless. The inbound grade moves off F with any three of: settable expiry, a token-management API, scoped or read-only tokens, a last-used column, or joining GitHub's partner program.
